Katie & Drew had an absolutely amazing, joyful and elegant DAC wedding. The Detroit Athletic Club was a perfect backdrop for their elegant and happy celebration following their ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor. We have been so excited about their wedding day since photographing their relaxed, cozy and beautiful fall Ann Arbor engagement session at Nichols Arboretum.
Katie and Drew each started the day getting ready with their loved ones, and opening heartfelt cards and gifts from each other. It was an emotional start to the day with lots of laughter and happy tears. Their first look at the University of Michigan’s Law Quad was beautiful. We think seeing Katie as his bride literally took Drew’s breath away! The first look was so special, and they got to enjoy some time alone. The historic and striking gothic architecture and lush foliage made a lovely backdrop for photos, and we headed off to the church. The minister for their Ann Arbor wedding ceremony was a good family friend, which made the day even more special. The lovely music before the ceremony was played by White Pines Entertainment, a string trio. Katie was escorted down the aisle by her father, and she surprised her mother with a single rose and a joyous embrace before she met Drew at the altar. After the ceremony, they were whisked off to the DAC in a sweet ride- a Rolls Royce rental that Katie’s dad surprised them with! This car gives them one degree of separation from J-Lo, who was the car’s original owner! Wow what a ride!
Katie and Drew had elegant DAC wedding reception. Guests mingled in the reading room and then made their way up to the grand ballroom, one of our favorite place in Detroit! This century old venue is like a museum with its tapestries and artwork, and the staff is always gracious and wonderful. The toasts were super funny yet very sincere and heartfelt. Katie and Drew’s first dance was a result of very fun practice sessions and they rocked it! We spent some time on the rooftop terrace enjoying the last moments of sunshine and overlooking the amazing Detroit skyline. The band Chateau was so great- as usual! They welcomed Katie and Drew to the stage for an epic version of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ and they were total rock stars with their tambourines. Their wedding day was such a joyful mix of fun, emotions, and love. We are so thrilled to have been a part of it!
